When we analysed the newspapers we noticed that they all have one thing in commn, a main article to grab the readers attention. This was the same with either tabloids such as "The Sun," "The Daily Express," and "The Daily Star," and broadsheets such as "The Times." We noticed that to grab the reader's attention the article would have a main picture on the centre to focus the reader in on the main article, the layout of all the papers were the same as they would consist of a main issues which would place the picture at either the top or centre of the page, followed by the text around the picture in a column form mat.
As we wish to base our newspaper in Lakeside, we are planning to focus our target audience on young people, as we believe that there are not many papers that are for the younger generation, the closest we could think of that are aimed for young people would be, "The London Paper," as this contains gossip, fashion articles, main issues and life stories. We decided to follow this concept with our own newspaper as we believe that to attract a younger audience we need to have these following articles within our newspaper.
We have decided that as we are basing our newspaper in Lakeside we wish to focus on their local events such as how Lakeside supports charity events, to further this research we will visit Basildon Hospice/Hospital, and see how Lakeside funds them. We will also interview Kirsty O'Callaghan as she is head of the charities.

Glad to see you are thinking carefully about how media producers target their core audience. You really should consider the biggest and most popular newspaper in the UK amongst young people (the biggest selling newspaper full stop) and that is The Sun. What is it about The Sun's design and brand that works well?
ReplyDeleteThe Sun forces people to take sides - for or against it. Why does it have this effect on people? Do you want your newspaper to create as much emotion among potential readers, or do you want to avoid controversy?
The choice is yours!
